one last April post

Wednesday, April 30, 2008

I have not stamped in what seems like forever. Last Friday I got a headache with some coughing and stuffiness with it. Well today is Wednesday and I still have a headache with some coughing and stuffiness with it. I finally brokedown and made myself a doctor's appointment for this afternoon so hopefully by this weekend I can get to stamping. Next week is Teacher appreciation week and I have a couple of ideas for some little gifts for Kaitlyn and Kyle's teachers. Anyway, all that aside here is a card for today that I made a while back. I rarely use a white base for cards and I don't know why. It is so much easier to write on the inside and more cost effective.

Supplies used: Simply Said stamp set, White, Lovely Liliac, and Green Galore cardstock, Lovely Liliac and Green Galore ink, and green ribbon.

Reunion page

Friday, April 25, 2008

This is a scrapbook page from my ten year reunion. It is a pretty simple page. I tried to match the paper to my sparkly shirt I wore. Now I just have to decide if I want to put these pages at the end of my high school album or in my miscellaneous album that I put things in chronological order. Where would you put it?

More scrapbook pages

Wednesday, April 23, 2008

Here are some more scrapbook pages I made a while ago at an all day crop. They are nothing special, just thought I would share them with you and I really like the background paper I used for them. ;)

Kaitlyn on Halloween visiting all the characters at a festival party.

The whole family going to a UT game in Knoxville.

Angie Juda (from chic n scratch) sent me this cute card. I had guessed a question on her blog correctly.

Pocket Card

Thursday, April 17, 2008

I made this pocket card a while ago. I like this style of card but for some reason don't make it very often. They work really well for invitations.

Supplies used: In Full Bloom and Wonderful Words stamp set; Bravo Burgandy, So Saffron, Always Artichoke cardstock; Basic Black and versamark ink; gold brads, Stampin' Pastels.

Post-it keychains

Tuesday, April 15, 2008

I saw these keychain post-it holders on Angie Juda's blog (chic n scratch on the blogroll) and had to make some. I looked everywhere for the square 2x2 post-its and finally found them at Kroger of all places. Then of course the next time I went to Wal-mart there were some there. I made several but these I used chocolate and turquoise colors. I made these for some friends of mine who went out to say farewell to a friend who is moving. I hope that when they use these it will remind them of our nights out together. I used the scallop punch, circle punch, Antique alphabet, Chocolate and Turquoise ink and Chocolate and Turquoise ribbon.

Two similar cards

Here are two similar cards I made using the set Simply Said. I used Bold Brights and used the markers to color the image. Simply and quick!

Decorating with dice

Wednesday, April 9, 2008

April was my month to hostess for bunco and I am always looking for cute decorating stuff to use. I found this dice stamp and immediately bought it, I don't even remember how much it was. I got white cups and napkins and stamped pink and purple dice on them (we have decided pink and purple are our official colors).

I also made these giant paper clip bookmarks for everyone.

And I made these little boxes that I got from dollar tree for us to use to keep score. We added a plain m&m for each bunco win and a peanut butter m&m for each big bunco.

I used Pink Passion and Lovely Liliac cardstock and ink for all these bunco creations.

If at first you don't succeed...

Tuesday, April 8, 2008

Those of you who read my blog often know that I am in love with the new rub-ons from Stampin' Up. I went to Dollar Tree and just wondered around looking for stuff I could use the rub-ons on. I found this picture frame and thought I could spice it up a little. I tried the black rub-ons on the white mat but when I pulled the film off part of the rub-on that I didn't want to come off did.

Here is the mistake:

So I took a piece of Certainly Celery and traced that mat to make a new mat for the frame. Then I used the brown rub-ons and tried again, this time I cut out the part I needed. I usually do that but for some reason didn't the first try. Here is the second attempt, I turned out better than the white anyway.

My Journal

Friday, April 4, 2008

A friend of mine at church, Jane, recently received a gift from a friend of hers. She showed me her gift which was the cutest journal someone had made for her. I took that idea and made 3 journals to be used for part of my bunco prizes last night. They were fairly easy to make but did take several sheets of paper. I put paper on 3 of the pages and used the round tab punch on the inside to make a divider of sorts. I also put a pocket on the middle divider and included a bookmark. I need to find a printable 2008 calendar because I would really like to include that on the inside cover in a similar way. Anyway here they are.

Coffee anyone?

Wednesday, April 2, 2008

Here are a couple more cards I made over the weekend. I recently got the Earth Element watercolor crayons. Before I only had the Rich Regals and I love using those to color my images in. Now I just need the other two sets. This set just begged to be colored in EE colors (even though it is retired) so I used it for a couple of cards.

Supplies used: Espress Yourself stamp set; Creamy Caramel, More Mustard and Garden Green cardstock, Chocolate Chip ink, and ribbon.

I also recently got some of the wide Chocolate ribbon. I didn't think I would like the wider ribbon but boy was I wrong. I have got to get some of that in the other colors.

Supplies used: Espress Yourself stamp set, Ruby Red, Cameo Coral, and Chocolate Chip cardstock, Chocolate Chip ink, Wide Chocolate ribbon, watercolor crayons and aquapainter.

Watercoloring

Tuesday, April 1, 2008

I made several cards last Friday night while watching the Memphis game at my BIL's. We usually go out there about once a week and this is where I get the majority of my stamping done during the school year. I just don't have time or motivation to stamp at home. My house is always a mess and my kids are around so there is never a moment. I find the occasional stamp moment at home but most times I just pack up some stuff and stamp at my BIL's. I have thought about leaving some of my stuff in a corner over there, but he probably wouldn't like that too much.

Anyway here is one of the cards I made the other night. I have really gotten into watercoloring lately. I did finally get some watercolor paper. Archiver's gives out a free cardstock coupon about once a month so I will use that to get my watercolor paper. It works so much better. My favorite method is using the watercolor crayons and my aquapainter, although I also enjoy just using the ink pads and the aquapainter, that is just not as portable.

Supplies used: Because of You stamp set; Bravo Burgundy, So Saffron, and Always Artichoke cardstock and crayons, Basic Black ink, and ribbon.

I have a really cute journal that I am working on to show you later in the week so stay tuned for that. Thanks for visiting!
