Domino Ornaments

Friday, December 21, 2007

I bought a package of Dominoes at the Dollar General and stamped an image on them with staz-on. Then I used sharpies to color in the santas. I attached a ribbon to the back and put a small strip of paper on to cover it on the back.

A can instead of a bag

Thursday, December 20, 2007

Kaitlyn has two teachers this year so I made them some monogram notecards, a post-it holder with matching pen and an ornament. Instead of using a bag to put it in I covered a formula can with paper. Then I punched a hole in the sides using my crop-a-dile (see yesterday's post) and tied a ribbon on it with a scalloped ornament on the side. Then I stuffed some tissue paper in them just like a bag. I am happy with the way they turned out except for the fact that I ran out ribbon for the second one so the handle is kinda short.

The Amazing Crop-a-dile

Wednesday, December 19, 2007

I do not have a finished product to show you today but I wanted to show you the amazingness of the crop-a-dile. I punched a hole today in this formula can (you will see why tomorrow) and I punched a hole in this thin piece of wood. You can seriously punch though almost anything.

Peppermint patties

Tuesday, December 18, 2007

I have wanted to make some of these peppermint patty things I saw a while ago on Sharon Roger's blog so when I ordered this scallop punch I got a package of peppermint patties even before my punch arrived so that I would be ready to go. Kaitlyn needed some stocking stuffers to take to her class so I got some Christmas pencils but also made these for her to take. These are simple with just one stamp in Glorious Green and then layered on a scallop made with the scallop punch. It takes two and kinda makes a peppermint sandwich. But they were cute and easy enough that I made 18 in less than 30 minutes.

Binder clips

Saturday, December 15, 2007

I made these cute (and inexpensive) altered binder clips. All I did was use the 2.5 inch binder clips from Office Depot and cut a strip of paper to cover the bottom. Then I embellished them and tied a ribbon around the top.

"Now what on earth on you going to use these for?" you ask. I have seen several people use them as place cards but I am going to give them to use as picture holders, like this.

Noel Blocks

Friday, December 14, 2007

I saw a set of blocks on a blog I visit often called StampinMama. I wanted to try these for myself so I went to Hobby Lobby and got some 2 inch blocks. I sanded them down and painted them red. Then I cut squares of paper and used modge podge to adhere the paper to the blocks. I then used some chipboard letters that I had painted red and glue dotted those to the blocks once they dried. I am pretty pleased with how it looks. Now I just have to go back and get some more blocks to try this again.

Here is a photo of one of the blocks up close:

Post-it holders

Wednesday, December 12, 2007

I made these post-it holders (again inspired by Angie Juda's blog). I used some coasters I had bought at Dollar Tree. I covered the front with paper, attached the post-it notes with sticky strip, then added the binder clip. I had previously covered the binder clip with paper and tied a ribbon on it.

These were very easy. Kaitlyn has two teachers this year and this will be part of their gift.

Rolled up Ornament

Monday, December 10, 2007

I had several strips of paper left over from making those paper trees so I decided to make these glass ball ornaments with my left overs that I had seen several places. All I did was roll up the strips of paper and drop them down into the ball. This did take more strips that I had anticipated and it still is not as full as I would have liked but it works. I found these glass ball ornaments in a package of 3 at dollar tree. So that makes this a cute yet inexpensive project.

Monogram cards

Sunday, December 9, 2007

My bunco girls recently did something really sweet for me as a group. So as a thank you to them I made each of them a set of monogram cards. There were 6 cards in each set and they were sized about 3 and a half by 5. These cards were inspired by a lady named Angie Juda.
I used the scallop punch that I have recently become addicted to. They were real simple to make. I made 66 cards in one afternoon in no time at all.

Scallop ornaments

Saturday, December 8, 2007

I got this new scallop punch the other day and I love it. I cannot believe I waited so long so get it. I have punched so many scallops out. I made these simple paper ornaments. I punched 6 scallops out, folded them in half, and adhered them together. I think they will also make the cutest little package toppers.

And here are some close up pictures of them individually.

Paper Trees

Saturday, November 24, 2007

I have become addicted to making these paper trees. Last year for Christmas I made a bunch of those glitter ornaments. You can see them here. But this year it is these paper trees. This is another tutorial on Splitcoast. I have been to Hobby Lobby twice now to get the materials to make them. I will use these as gifts for Christmas. I am so proud of the way they turned out.

Here is the forest of all the ones I have made so far:

This is the first one I made. It is actually my favorite. I still have to find some moss to go around the bottom of the tree to cover up the the styrofoam.

This one is very similar to the first.

I decided not to put a pot on the bottom of this one.

Then I found these mini cones. So I thought I would make some mini paper trees. I made this blue colored one with a snowflake topper. The tutorial says you cut the strips of paper 1x4 inches so I did that for this one as well as the previous ones. I thought it looked a little odd so for the next one I cut the strips 3/4 x 3 inches. That worked much better. I put the red and green one on a flower pot but I still have to find something to cover the bottom. I made a snowflake topper for the other one using some chipboard I painted white.

Pennant Banner

Friday, November 23, 2007

My favorite stamping site that I visit pretty much daily for ideas is Splitcoaststampers (it is linked on the right hand side). They are having a two week holiday tutorial blitz. One of the tutorials is a pennant banner. Here is my attempt at making one. It turned out pretty cute if I do say so myself.

I will definitely be making more of these for gifts this Christmas.

Free Card

I went to Archiver's last weekend just to browse and they had a free make and take card. The woman helping me was not very helpful. She wanted to do it for me. I really wanted to tell her I could do it myself, I am a seasoned stamper. Nevertheless, here it is:

My scrapbook personality

Thursday, November 22, 2007

I am paper. Kinda boring but I think it means pretty designer paper!

What scrapbooking item are you?

You are PAPER!You are an all natural basic person who likes to act as a foundation to others. You are willing to take a backseat in most of your relationships and let others take the spotlight, while you show your support and help them shine! Underneath it all, you are the one who makes it all happen. You are the focus and stability in any group, even if you are not the leader. Others look to you to set the pace and provide ideas for ways to get things done. But Paper Beware - sometimes you get a little edgy with the people who look to you for support and can give them some papercut remarks that can hurt their feelings. Remember to watch what you say, because you are best when leading by example.

I finally stamped

Sunday, October 7, 2007

After two months of pretty much no stamping I made some cards. I made 10 each of these thank you cards for my sister-in-law for her shower.

I used perfect plum, pale plum, mellow moss, and white cardstock and the cake stamp from Year after Year stamp set.
